About
Belfast Cathedral
Officially known as St Anne's Cathedral, Belfast Cathedral is one of the city's most iconic landmarks and a striking centre of worship, culture and heritage in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1899 and continued throughout much of the twentieth century, resulting in a building that combines Romanesque architecture with stunning mosaics, intricate stonework and contemporary artistic features. Its distinctive stainless-steel spire, known as the Spire of Hope, has become a recognisable feature of Belfast's skyline.
As well as being an active place of worship, Belfast Cathedral hosts concerts, exhibitions, community events and cultural performances throughout the year, making it an important gathering place for people from across Belfast and beyond.
During Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the cathedral provides a unique and atmospheric setting where music, history and spirituality come together, offering audiences the opportunity to experience traditional arts in one of Belfast's most remarkable spaces.
A place of reflection, heritage and creativity at the heart of Belfast's cultural life.
