Tour of Belfast City Cemetery in Irish with Seán Fennell

Both Milltown Cemetery and Belfast City Cemetery are close to each other. They are interwoven into the city’s, the country’s history and into the history of the world even.

Stories will be told of the Easter Rising, the Irish Civil War, the history of the Titanic and the Industrial Revolution and of course, the Troubles, the Hunger Strikes, the Irish language revival and The Gaelic League. Of sporting heroes, boxers and soccer players and without doubt, of Belfast Celtic.

Stair Faoin Spéir Turais will conduct the tour of Milltown Cemetery in Irish. Amongst the subjects that will be mentioned will be the Belfast Pogroms, the Easter Rising, modern Republicanism in Belfast, sports heroes, community heroes, Irish language activists, the Second World War and much more.
