Enjoy an afternoon with SEOID, when they come to Belfast to launch their debut album 'Steeped in Music' at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann on Tuesday August 4th at 2pm . The title reflects the deep connection each of them have with their heritage and the tradition. Featuring harp, box, banjo, flute and guitar, the album is a journey through the many different trad tune forms woven together with nuanced instrumentation that is fresh and vital.

The band SEOID takes the name from the Irish word for "jewel" or "precious object", reflecting how the group treasure the traditional as well as embracing the new. SEOID is a collaboration of the traditional multi-instrumentalists Kerrie Herrity (banjo, mandolin and fiddle), Kenny Donagher from Sligo (accordion and keyboard) , John Dwyer (flute, whistle and keyboard) & Fiachra Guihen (Harp, Flute and Guitar). They perform an eclectic mix of traditional tunes and newly composed instrumental material.

Their upbeat lively style of traditional music is rooted in the Sligo and Roscommon flute and fiddle traditions, and they have delighted crowds across Ireland and internationally at concerts and festivals as well as featuring on multiple radio shows, live streams and television performances. Although all well established performers in their own right, together, the members of SEOID bring their own unique element to each performance, with their enjoyment of the collaboration and creativity bringing a blend of music you are sure to enjoy.

All Ireland banjo player and music teacher Kerrie Herrity was born in Luton and returned to Ireland to settle in north Sligo, a landscape that has shaped her compositions from the natural harbour of Clashymore on the island of Inismurray off the Sligo coast to the hill of Knocklane. Kerrie and Kenny recorded "Box and Banjo" in 2015 and have been playing together since the early 2000's. Kenny is a renowned multi-instrumentalist and composer from Easkey in Co. Sligo. He comes from a family with a deep legacy of traditional Irish music having been brought up in a house of music with regular visits from many of the great musicians of our time on their travels. Kenny has also worked in radio, audio and video production. John Dwyer hails from Gurteen in south Sligo and also comes from a long family tradition of music and has been involved with the promotion of the traditional arts for many years in the region, as an administrator, flute player and also a talented accompanist . Fiachra Guihen is a highly accomplished multi-instrumental musician and composer from Keadue in Roscommon and has many musical performance credits to his name as a harpist and flute player . Like everyone in the group he comes from a life and legacy "steeped in music" and the use of the phrase in a recent interview inspired the title for the album.
