Robert Hilliard is one of Ireland’s best-known International Brigadistas. His short life blazed with rare intensity; his death left a shadow hanging over his family. Lin Rose Clark, Hilliard’s granddaughter and author of his biography Swift Blaze of Fire, describes this absorbing character and the stirring times that shaped him.
