About
Gig Rig Daytime Programme
Thursday 6 August | Belfast City Hall
Donegal's all-female supergroup SíFiddlers will bring the power of 13 fiddles moving as one to the Gig Rig, with talent stretching from Glencolmcille to Inishowen and everywhere in between.
Although the fiddle has long been synonymous with County Donegal, it is only more recently that the contribution of female fiddlers has received greater recognition and celebration. SíFiddlers brings together some of the county's finest musicians, representing the breadth of Donegal's rich fiddle tradition with a repertoire drawn from across the county.
Also taking to the stage is acclaimed uilleann piper Conor Mallon, from Keady, who will showcase his extraordinary musicianship alongside an all-star band.
A Senior County, Ulster and All-Ireland Champion on uilleann pipes at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Conor began his musical career with the Armagh Pipers Club, where he first attended uilleann pipe lessons. He progressed through the ranks to become one of the club's senior teachers before embarking on a career as a full-time touring musician.
Recognised as one of the leading pipers of his generation, Conor will be joined by Paul Starrett on electric guitar, Jack Warnock on acoustic guitar and vocals, and Fintan Mulholland on bodhrán and whistles.
The Fleadh's Gig Rig Daytime Programme brings the energy and atmosphere of the Fleadh right into the heart of Belfast city centre.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Belfast City Hall, this free outdoor concert series showcases an exciting mix of national and international performers, featuring traditional music, song, dance, céilí bands and large ensembles.
Throughout the week, audiences can enjoy performances from Comhaltas branches and visiting artists from across Ireland and around the world, alongside youth orchestras, community collaborations and outstanding local talent.
With a packed programme running daily, the Gig Rig offers a welcoming and accessible way for everyone to experience the richness, creativity and infectious spirit of Ireland's living traditional arts.
