About
ST. MARY’S UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, FALLS ROAD
Despite the long-standing myth, Belfast was deeply impacted by An Gorta Mór, the Great Hunger in the late 1840s. Historian Dr Robyn Atcheson’s talk uses original research to illustrate Belfast’s suffering, delving into the problems of overcrowding, disease and rising mortality rates.

AN GORTA MÓR I MBÉAL FEIRSTE: THE GREAT HUNGER IN BELFAST COLÁISTE OLLSCOILE NAOMH MUIRE, BÓTHAR NA BHFÁL
In ainneoin an mhiotais sheanbhunaithe, bhí tionchar an-mhór ag an Ghorta Mhór ar Bhéal Feirste go mall sna 1840í. Bainfidh an chaint seo ón staraí, an Dr. Robyn Atcheson, úsáid as taighde chun fulaingt Bhéal Feirste a léiriú. Iniúchfaidh sí na fadhbanna a bhain le plódú, le galair agus le rátaí báis a bhí ag méadú.
Imeacht saor in aisce. Ní bheidh áirithint ar bith de dhíth.
Eagraithe ag Dr Robyn Atcheson
